Glitch
Nitsy and Bitsy was my first published comic, each of which were a single page long. My first long narrative was Glitch. Where N&B examined trying to fit into mainstream gay culture, Glitch was much more to heart, exploring how to be a happy gay while not living the mainstream gay lifestyle.
I got the name for the comic one night when a friend called to see if I wanted to go to a performance art dance piece with some friends of his. In the car, someone quoted from the Sound of Music, which I have never seen (still haven’t). I just shrugged my shoulders. He said it was from the Sound of Music, to which I said that I had never seen it. My friend who was driving, turned around and exclaimed, “You’ve never seen The Sound of Music? What are you, one of those glitch fags?”
I loved the idea that not having seen that movie made me a different kind of fag. So after I had come up with the idea and story for the first comic, I used Glitch for the title, as the whole story seemed to fit the whole idea behind the comic.
I wrote 3 issues of Glitch and had started on the 4th issue when I got a 9-5 job as a graphic designer, which didn’t leave much time or energy to work on Glitch.
I’m currently working on a completed book, finishing the whole story, which it was always intended to have.
